GCSE History resits: summer 2027 dates
Students who need to resit GCSE History can sit the exam again in the summer 2027 series. This guide covers the dates, what to expect from the two papers and how to plan revision for a resit.
Summer 2027 resit dates
The summer 2027 exams for GCSE History run in May and June 2027, and results are due in August 2027. Both papers are taken in the same series, so plan to revise for both. Check the exact timetable with your school, as dates can change.
What a resit involves
A resit sits the same two papers as the first sitting. GCSE History is untiered, so you sit the same papers as every other student and can be awarded any grade from 1 to 9. Each paper is 2 hours and 84 marks, and each counts for half of the final grade.
How to prepare
- Work out which paper caused the most trouble and target that first.
- Practise timed source questions and extended answers with a clear judgement.
- Make sure your knowledge of both the modern world and the British nation is secure, as each paper has its own topics.
