GCSE English Literature resits: summer 2027 dates
Students who need to resit GCSE English Literature can sit the exam again in the summer 2027 series. This guide covers the dates, the two papers and how to plan revision for a resit.
Summer 2027 resit dates
The summer 2027 exams for GCSE English Literature run in May and June 2027, and results are due in August 2027. Both papers are taken in the same series, so plan to revise for both. Check the exact timetable with your school, as dates can change.
What a resit involves
A resit sits the same two papers as the first sitting. Paper 1 is 1 hour 45 minutes and 64 marks, and Paper 2 is 2 hours 15 minutes and 96 marks. Paper 2 carries the larger share of the grade, at 60 percent.
How to prepare
- Put the most time into Paper 2, as it carries 60 percent of the grade.
- Practise timed essays on your Shakespeare play and your 19th-century novel, with a clear argument in each answer.
- Learn to compare poems quickly, as the unseen poem needs a fresh, focused response.
